Charleston Travel Guide

A couple weeks ago, I was lucky enough to travel to Charleston with three lovely friends for a little girls getaway! Check out the blogs by the Whitney, Yasmina, and Goerdian to get to know everyone a little better!! We stayed at the Renaissance Charleston and had such an amazing time! I want to share with you all about our stay, where we ate, and the top things to do in Charleston! One of the highlights was taking a  Private sailing charter with OM Sailing Charters– but more about that later!

Where we stayed

[envira-gallery id=”5708″] We stayed at the Renaissance Charleston and I was blown away from the moment we walked in (also might have to do with them handing our free popsicles on the day we checked in. ;))! The decor was stunning, and the staff, beyond accommodating. They did everything to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable! The location of the hotel was right on King street and in walking distance to great restaurants and shops!

Our room was a huge suite with sitting area and separate bedroom. The color scheme is very modern and has the coolest wallpaper in the bathroom! The hotel is equipped with a gym and rooftop pool – where I definitely had a nap on the couch one day! One of my favorite things was the free bikes the hotel provides! Since there are so many things to do in the area, the bikes are a great way to get around!

Where to Eat

Dress// Shoes

1KEPT– This restaurant is in the Renaissance hotel and was amazing for brunch and Dinner! The Brussel sprouts are a must and Kris will make you a great cocktail! Ask for the Sunday Punch!!

Darling Oyster Bar– If you love oysters, then this is the place to go! They have a wide selection of seafood and a few non-seafood options as well. Super pretty decor and a great ambiance.

Millers All Day– We went here for brunch and it was fabulous! Amazing southern food and the biscuits and gravy are a must! Plus they had a great selection of desserts and pastries to make my sweet tooth happy!

Rooftop Bar at Vendue– On our last day we stopped here for lunch and we definitely ordered too much food! Its a rooftop bar, but the view was just ok. Nothing to write home about. But I had a Pimms Cup drink and that was a 10/10! Made up for the average views!

What to do

[envira-gallery id=”5705″] Private Sailing Charter– We went on an amazing sailing excursion with OM Sailing Charters and it was one of the best parts of our trip! We went on a 3 hour day trip and had a blast laying out on the boat while we sailed around. It’s a perfect event for Bachelorette Parties and I guarantee you will have the best time! You can even bring your own drinks and snacks! Plus you can stop and swim around! Captain Banff was knowledgeable and accommodating to our needs- especially putting up with all our picture taking! Haha! He even offers full day tours or sunset tours! A sunset tour would be a perfect romantic date idea!

This sailing excursion is definitely one of the top things to do in Charleston and you can check out OM Sailing Charters on Trip Advisor!

Folly Beach– this was on our list of things to do, but we ran out of time! We have heard this is a great little beach town with beach bars, restaurants, and of course, a beach! It’s about 20 minutes from downtown and would be the perfect place for a beach day!

Rainbow Row Charleston

Rainbow Row If you like taking pictures on vacation, then you must visit this place!! They call it Rainbow Row because all the historic houses in that row are pairned different colors! Be warned though that it can get pretty busy and might take a little effort to get a photo where no one else is in it.

Go out on the town- North on King Street is the main bar area, so that’s where we headed out Friday and Saturday night. First we went to Republic on Friday night which is the club scene and played great dance music. Saturday night we went to Stars which is a couple doors down from Darlings Oyster bar. Stars has a rooftop bar where we spent most of our time and the lower floor has a DJ and dancing!

Overall, we had such a great time and its deifinitely a place I will be visiting again! It is so charming and there were lots of cool things to do and see!
