Can you wear white after Labor Day?

Probably one of the most popular fashion questions… Can you wear white after Labor Day? My answer: Yes! Keep reading for a few tips on how to make white work after Labor Day!

I’ve teamed up with Nordstrom to bring you a few looks that you will sure want to wear after Labor Day! White is actually becoming quite popular as we move into fall, and you’ve probable seen a lot of bloggers wearing white boots like these or these. White is definitely not a faux-paux for the cooler months.

A few things to keep in mind when picking whites:

1.Vary The Textures

I like this tip for normal outfits as well. Adding textures and depth creates a more interesting outfit that often translates well on camera. Being a blogger, I am constantly trying to create outfits that have this dimension and depth that will be conveyed nicely over photos. Wearing knits, such as this sweater dress below are a great way to incorporate whites into your wardrobe as they often have great textures and patterns.

2. Switch Up the Fabrics

Since the winter months will be cooler, it won’t be very practical to wear light fabrics such as linen. Go for chunky knits and wool-blends that have some weight to them. It can make a difference from your outfit looking like you just stepped off a summer vacation, or stepped off the mountain looking cozy and chic at the ski lodge.

3.Go with Off-Whites

Wearing stark, bright whites can feel summery. This isn’t to say you can’t wear these cooler whites, but I feel that as we get further into winter, wearing the creamy and off-white shades feel warmer and cozier. Plus, the creamier whites won’t wash you out as much! The white jacket I am wearing below is actually quite white and  a cooler shade, so I probably won’t be wearing it throughout the winter, but I love it for fall. Check out this post where I style it with a white dress!

Here are a few outfits I styled incorporating white into each look. When I am shopping for new outfit ideas and inspiration to share with you guys, I am always checking Nordstrom for new ideas and the latest trends. They have great staples and classic pieces that you will definitely wear for seasons to come!

Outfit 1

For this outfit, I paired a black and white stripe skirt with a faux leather jacket and white sneakers. The jacket is actually a a whiter shade than the white in the skirt, but it still works together. So don’t be afraid to mix the shades!

Outfit 2

Once the cooler temps come to Dallas, I am going to love rocking this sweater dress. It’s a creamy white with lots of texture so it looks cozy and warm! I paired it with these amazing black OTK suede boots that are on SALE and perfect for narrow calves!

Outfit 3

I used this striped skirt again and paired it with an off-white sweater and black studded heels. And like the first outfit, these shades aren’t exactly the same, but the subtle difference still make the outfit work since they are in the same color family.
